The story of Bärwalde begins with the German expansion to the east in the 11th and 12th centuries. Bärwalde has existed for over 600 years. The name "Bärwalde" was mentioned for the first time around 1403 in a document, the place described here was named in a document from 1406 for the first time beyond doubt.

The old church was probably built around 1570. On April 8, 1866, the last service took place in the old church, as a new church was built and consecrated in the same place in 1866/67.

On January 1st, 1974 Bärwalde was incorporated as a district after Radeburg. A window factory built in 1991 currently employs around 160 people.

Attractions

Bärwalde is a forest hoof village located on the edge of the Friedewald and the Moritzburg pond area . Several three-sided courtyards with well-preserved half-timbered buildings , high archways and neat house inscriptions, initials, etc. on the gate pillars and keystones are evidence of centuries of rural work. Sometimes there is still a water supply through courtyard wells .
