Börje Nils Ahlstedt (born February 21, 1939 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish actor and director .

Börje Ahlstedt comes from a simple background. Between 1962 and 1965 he trained as an actor at the renowned Dramatens elevskola drama school of the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm . Since then he has remained loyal to this stage.

He had his big breakthrough, together with Lena Nyman , with Vilgot Sjöman's films I am curious (yellow) (1967) and you want to know (also: I am curious - blue ) (1968). He became known to the general Swedish and international audience through the role of the farting Carl in Ingmar Bergman's film Fanny and Alexander (1982) and the robber chief Mattis in Astrid Lindgren's film adaptation of Ronja the robber's daughter from 1984. In 2003 he starred in Ingmar Bergman's last film Sarabande as Henrik, Karin's over-ambitious father.

In Sweden Börje Ahlstedt has worked on a long series of television productions. In 2003 he played his dream role " King Lear " at the Dramatic Theater in Stockholm, the production was controversial, but Ahlstedt's commitment was praised.
