Lena Nyman (born May 23, 1944 in Stockholm ; † February 4, 2011 , ibid) was a Swedish actress .

Career

Lena Nyman was a versatile actress who had everything from dramatic roles to light comedies in her repertoire. She made her debut as an actress at the age of eleven in a crime film that was not approved for children. After several film and theater roles, she received her training at the prestigious Stockholm drama school Dramatens elevskola the Drama Theater .

She celebrated her big breakthrough, together with Börje Ahlstedt , in Vilgot Sjöman's scandalous films I am curious (yellow) (Jag är nyfiken - gul) from 1967 and you want to know / I am curious (blue) (Jag är nyfiken - blå) by 1968.

In 1973 she surprised the Swedish audience in Hans Alfredson's and Tage Danielsson's revue Glaset i örat (The Glass in the Ear), after which she was seen in many revue and film productions by Alfredson / Danielsson. In 1978, Ingmar Bergman gave her the role of the sick Helena in the film Herbstsonate . In 1984 she played again with Börje Ahlstedt in Astrid Lindgren's film adaptation of Ronja the robber's daughter , he as the robber chief Mattis and she as his spirited wife Lovis .

At the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm she played a. a. in Die Dreigroschenoper (1969), Die Wildente (1972) and in Medea (1986). In 1988 she had one of the leading female roles in A Strange Couple at the private theater Maximteatern in Stockholm.

Nyman died on February 4, 2011 at the age of 66 after a long battle with various diseases such as cancer , COPD and Guillain-Barré syndrome .
