News from Pettson and Findus is a Swedish cartoon from 2000 . It is the second feature film in the Pettson and Findus series based on the presentation by children's book author Sven Nordqvist . Directed by Torbjörn Jansson and Albert Hanan Kaminski , co-director was Árpád Szabó .
action
When Pettson asks Findus to clean up the table, the latter finds it unfair. Together they write a letter to the king who is supposed to settle the dispute.
Pettson and Findus go on a hiking tour together. However, you don't get very far because the chickens want to come with you. After setting up a tent, the two go fishing. Pettersson has a huge pike on the hook, but it disappears again. The next morning he tells Gustavsson a story full of angler's Latin . The letter arrives shortly afterwards, but is stolen by the muklas.
After Findus heard a radio report about the Russian dog Laika , the first living creature from Earth in space, Findus also wants to fly to the moon. Pettersson designs a rocket and recreates the moon in the chicken coop. When the two are absorbed in the game, Gustavsson and Elsa join in and are frightened.
The next day, Pettersson's brother Alfred turns up, causing chaos on the farm. He unknowingly annoys Pettson, Findus and Gustavsson too. The three decide to drive him away by taking advantage of his fear of birds. They release the chickens and declare them wild chickens. Gustavsson plays a giant chicken. Alfred leaves the court in panic.
Findus is looking forward to the circus and is bragging about his relative, the tiger, in the hen house, but the chickens just laugh at him. When he visits the circus with Pettersson, he opens the gate to the tiger stable. The tiger is missing from the presentation. While Gustavsson and circus woman Fru Fellini are looking for the tiger, the latter appears at Findus'. Isstvan, the name of the tiger, turns out to be a nice contemporary who, together with Findus, scares the chickens and then gives a private circus performance. Then Gustavsson and Fru find the tiger and are relieved.
Findus and Petersson go to the woods to look for chanterelles . They meet a hunter who is currently hunting for elk . Shortly afterwards they actually meet a moose , which first chases them up a tree. He then eats her salami sandwiches. After the two return home, the moose comes by and demands salami breads, roaring loudly. As the hunter approaches, Petersson hides the moose in the house and drapes it so that it looks like a hunting trophy. The hunter pulls away again. Petersson and Findus follow the moose to a chanterelle field.
It's been a week now and the letter still hasn't turned up. Petersson and Findus go fishing. However, the king has not forgotten the two and visits them with his servants who are preparing the house of Findus. When the two come back from fishing, the king finally comes by. But he has locked himself in the outhouse and is freed by Gustavsson. The king spends an enjoyable afternoon with Petersson and Findus.

criticism
Like the first film, the sequel was rated as a good and child-friendly implementation of the classic children's book.
"After the successful first part in 2000, Albert Hanan Kaminski's talented team has again created a loving screen version of the famous Swedish children's book characters."
“Amiable cartoon that unobtrusively describes a calm, self-sufficient idyll and touches on all sorts of childlike conflict situations. The many ornamental details and references make it a pleasure for adults too. "
