Horst Raspe
Horst Raspe (born May 2, 1925 in Berlin , † December 19, 2004 in Munich ) was a German actor and voice actor .
Life
Horst Raspe made his debut as a theater actor in 1947 at the Münchner Kammerspiele . A large number of stage engagements followed.
In addition, since the early 1950s, Raspe also took on roles in film and television productions such as the Hans Fallada adaptation Who once eats out of a tin bowl directed by Fritz Umgelter , with whom Raspe worked even more often ( Montserrat with Robert Graf and Wolfgang Kieling as well as The Conqueror's Dream with Rolf Boysen ). In 1978, in Percy Adlon's The Guardian and His Poet , he embodied the Zurich journalist and critic Carl Seelig , who was a close confidante of the schizophrenic poet Robert Walser during the last 20 years of his life. The film was also shown in the Anglo-American region under the distribution title The Guardian and his Poet . Raspe's other films include Céleste (again directed by Percy Adlon) and guest appearances in the crime series The Fifth Column and The Commissioner .
However, Horst Raspe became known to a wide audience as a spokesman for radio and dubbing. He worked as a speaker and director for numerous radio play productions for the Bavarian Radio . His voice can be heard in the radio play versions of Douglas Adams ' The Hitchhiker's Guide to Space , JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (as host Barley Man Buttercup ) and Frank McCourt's The Ashes of My Mother .
Raspe also lent his voice as a voice actor to internationally known actors such as Bruce Dern ( Coming Home and The Driver ), Harrison Ford ( Getting Straight ), Terence Hill ( Carthage in Flames ), Roddy McDowall ( Funny Lady ) and John Smith in the early evening series Am Foot of the Blue Mountains and Dennis Weaver in the title role of the crime series A Sheriff in New York . Raspe was also the spokesperson for Otto Šimánek in the Czechoslovak series Pan Tau . One of his last roles was Abe Simpson in The Simpsons , whom he dubbed as the third speaker from the 10th to the 15th season.
His son Johannes Raspe also works as an actor and voice actor.
