Kuddelmuddel bei Pettson & Findus is a Danish - Swedish - German cartoon from 2009. It is the fourth feature film in the Pettson and Findus series based on the original by Sven Nordqvist . Directed by Jørgen Lerdam and Anders Sørensen .

action

One morning Pettersson discovers that the roof needs repairs. But first it goes to the lake, where he throws stones with Findus. He falls into the water and Findus notices that Pettson cannot swim properly. Pettersson tries to hide this, however, and designs a school swimming machine. When he tests this, however, he is stranded on an inland island . Findus tries to save him, but is also in distress. Courageously, Pettersson saves him. After another attempt, Pettersson can swim again and the two return home.

In the evening Findus wishes to be big. When he wakes up the next morning he is tall, but Pettersson is short. He imagined adulthood very differently. He can neither bake a cake nor repair the roof. He desperately wishes to be little again. When he wakes up, he realizes that it was all just a bad dream.

Now the roof really needs to be repaired. Findus is supposed to help Pettersson with a brick throwing machine, but first the chickens conquer the machine and shoot at Pettersson, who can barely stay on the roof. When Findus comes flying in, he catches him, but is struck by lightning shortly afterwards and falls from the roof. When Findus finds him, Pettson can no longer remember anything. Neither Findus nor his own name. So that he can remember, Findus tells him three stories: how Pettson came to Findus and they almost lost each other again, how they were together on a treasure hunt and how they had a band with the hens. After that, Pettersson is the old man again.

background

After the film Tomorrow, Findus, there will be something that had a continuous storyline for the first time, Kuddelmuddel at Pettson & Findus is again an episode film, the episodes of which are linked by a small framework story. The film tries to faithfully implement the book's original. The color and design are based on the template and were mainly drawn in pastel colors . Sepia is used in the flashback at the beginning of the film . Overall, the images are drawn in great detail and contain details directed at adults, such as a band reminiscent of the Blues Brothers and allusions to Robinson Crusoe .

Torbjörn Jansson , who already wrote the scripts for the earlier Petersson and Findus films, took over episodes of the second season of the television series, which were reworked and edited, with the exception of one episode, namely the framework. The episode in which Findus and Pettson meet for the first time is based on the book How Findus came to Pettson .

The German theatrical release was on October 22nd, 2009. A new narrator was found for the German dubbed version in Eberhard Prüter , since his two predecessors Harald Leipnitz (part 1) and Achim Höppner (parts 2 and 3) had died. With Anton Kurth, a young talent has been hired as the voice of Findus. The DVD version was released on January 29, 2010 via Edel SE .

criticism

Kuddelmuddel bei Pettson & Findus is a film that is also suitable for smaller children and, thanks to its design, is also suitable as an introductory film.

was included in the program of the FILMERNST cinema office (an initiative of the Brandenburg Film Association and the State Institute for Schools and Media Berlin-Brandenburg - LISUM) as a "dream film" . The cinema office collects films that are particularly suitable for educational and didactic purposes and makes them available to the public in special screenings.

"With its Nordic humor, the film adaptation provides the small and large viewers with a pleasure that avoids any leisurely education and lets the two heroes learn from their conflicts in all friendship."

- Magali-Ann Thomas : Bayern 3

"Sympathetic, old-fashioned cartoon adventure with the characters by Sven Nordqvist as a nice reunion with the strange characters, whereby the central theme is missing."

However, the secondary use of TV material was criticized.

“This is now the fourth Pettson and Findus feature-length film that puts the episodes of the television series together and uses them for a second time, the third that does this in a less artistic do you-still-flashback structure - angered the audacity. All five episodes muddled up this time have already been broadcast on German television, are available on DVD (Pettson and Findus - The original DVD for the TV series, Vol. 2) and - which makes it even more annoying - not even nice to watch. "

- Natália Wiedmann : cut

“What bothers the impression a little is the fact that this film is actually just a compilation of different stories from the television series that have been put together and rearranged. I am sure that children especially like stories that they are reasonably familiar with. But do you have to overdo it with recycling? "
