The Büchelstein is 832  m above sea level. NN high mountain in the southern Bavarian Forest near the higher Brotjacklriegel .

Its wooded slopes tower over the Lallinger Winkel in the east and the village of Grattersdorf in the north. A little below the highest point there is a lookout rock with a large summit cross and a wide panorama over parts of Lower Bavaria , with the influence of the foehn in autumn even as far as the mountain range of the Alps from the Dachstein to the Zugspitze . Furthermore, a launch ramp for hang-gliders was built here, which take off when the thermals are appropriate . Several short hiking trails lead up the Büchelstein from Grattersdorf, Kerschbaum or Langfurth , and the European long-distance hiking trail E8 leads past the lookout rock.

The Büchelstein may be the eponymous product for the Pichelstein stew . On June 17, 1839, at the suggestion of the Grafenau district judge Jakob Strelin, the Büchelstein Festival was celebrated here for the first time, which was later continued in Grattersdorf.
