The hamlet of Bühlikofen ( 581  m above sea level ) belongs to the municipality of Zollikofen in the canton of Bern , Switzerland .

history

It was first mentioned in 1278 when the nobles von Bremgarten sold it to Werner von Rheinfelden. Through his daughter Mechthild, the court and the Reichenbach rulership came to her husband Ullrich von Erlach, the presumed leader of the Bernese in the Battle of Donnerbühl and in the Jammertal (1298) against Freiburg and Habsburg. After various inheritance and changes of hands, Bühlikofen came to Johann Anton von Erlach zu Reichenbach, who in 1530 sold his rule including Bühlikofen to Luzius von Tscharner von Chur. The Bühlikofen farm came to Hans Hofer and his sons in 1536. After another change of hands, the then Mr. von Bremgarten Hans Franz Nägeli acquired the scattered parts of the farm and the lands. In 1592 Johann Frisching bought Bühlikofen as his own property. In 1616 he had the Renaissance palace built with its hexagonal stair tower. The Frisching family sold Bühlikofen with the castle in 1728. After further changes of ownership, the estate finally came to Colonel Christian Hofer in 1892 and has remained in the family until today.

The hamlet still consists of two farmhouses, the small castle, a warehouse and other houses. Federal Councilor Ruth Dreifuss visited the listed hamlet in 2000 on the occasion of European Monument Day , as Bühlikofen is one of the most beautiful and best preserved hamlets in the canton of Bern.
