Büren NW was a municipality in the canton of Nidwalden in Switzerland . In 1850 their area was divided into the communities of Oberdorf NW and Wolfenschiessen .
history
Büren is located west of the Buochserhorn in Engelbergertal. First mentioned in 1252 as Burronn, 1342 as Buirron. The local authority , first mentioned in 1469 as its own Ürte, is now called Büren nid dem Bach (in contrast to the Ürte Büren ob dem Bach, Wolfenschiessen ). It includes all citizens who have the right to citizenship (corporation citizenship) and who live in the district. Originally shaped by agriculture, Büren grew strongly at the end of the 20th century (wood and metal processing companies, commuters). Büren has had its own school since the 19th century (1879–1974 school community ). Büren belongs to Stans church , since 1864 a chapel parish. The first mention of a Chapel of St. Catherine in 1494, in the place of which today's Brother Klausen Church was built. Until 2002, Büren was a stop on the route of the former Luzern-Stans-Engelberg-Bahn , part of what is now the Zentralbahn .
