history

The Batyest settlement was first mentioned in a document in a deed of donation from Sigismund Báthory to Stefan Török from 1597. In 1617 the estate belonged to Stephan Bethlen . During the Habsburg monarchy the village was called Battyest and during the Hungarian period Vadpatak . The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the division of the Banat into three parts, which Băteşti fell to the Kingdom of Romania .

The orthodox wooden church, which is now a listed building, was built around 1700.
