Javno Preduzece "B&H Airlines" doo Sarajevo was a Bosnian-Herzegovinian airline based in Sarajevo and based at Sarajevo Airport .
history
The airline was founded in 1994 as Air Bosna , it was the national airline of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina . In 2003 flight operations were stopped due to bankruptcy , and in 2005 it was resumed under the new name B&H Airlines . In 2008 the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to tender 49% of the shares in the airline. The partial privatization was completed on November 23, 2008 with the sale of the shares in Turkish Airlines . 50.93% remained in the possession of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and 0.07% with Energoinvest dd Sarajevo. On March 1, 2011, the Boeing 737-400 was returned to the previous owner, Turkish Airlines, and in February 2012 an Airbus A319-100 operated by them for B&H Airlines .
In June 2012 Turkish Airlines announced that it would transfer its stake in B&H Airlines without any consideration from the state government.
At the beginning of March 2013, the company had to temporarily cease operations because its two aircraft had to remain on the ground for maintenance purposes. Financial difficulties were also reported at the same time. The company, which was in debt with 3.7 million euros, had accounts blocked. On March 18, the accounts were released again. An agreement was reached with the commercial bank, the Bosnian subsidiary of Hypo Alpe Adria International AG, but no details were disclosed.
In mid-February 2015, one of the two ATR 72-200s was blocked in Germany. The airline was unable to pay the maintenance costs. The Bosnian government intends to support the company, but the new government in April 2015 changed its mind and liquidated the company.
In March 2016, the Sarajevo Airport creditor filed for insolvency proceedings against BH Airlines. The main creditor is the Hypo-Abbaugesellschaft Heta with liabilities of EUR 7.5 million from finance leases for two aircraft.
