BTR or BTR is the debut album by the American band Big Time Rush .

Background and appearance

The recordings on the album began in 2009 with the creation of the single Big Time Rush . The album was not only the band's first studio album, but also the soundtrack for their eponymous series Big Time Rush . On September 1, 2010, the album's track list was published on the Internet. This led to the discussion that two of the most popular songs from the series, namely Any Kind Of Guy and Famous , which is a cover version of the original by the Swedish girl group Play , were not on the track list. The song Boyfriend was also in the track list, but only the album version , as Boyfriend later became a single and made it into the later published editions. The track list also showed that the song Count On You , which Big Time Rush sings with American Idol winner Jordin Sparks , was also there. The album was named BTR , which is an abbreviation for the band name B ig T ime R ush, which was often used in the series. In the USA, the album was released as a US edition on October 11, 2010, on which only the first eleven tracks could be heard. This US edition was only available as a download in Germany on December 17, 2010 . This edition of the album did not make it into the German album charts . The Germany edition , published on April 15, 2011, made it into the German charts. On this Germany edition there were five bonus tracks, including a. Any Kind Of Guy and Famous . There were even six more bonus tracks on iTunes , as Stuck was still available as track number 17. On the edition were u. a. heard two other versions of the song Boyfriend . The Germany edition could be bought in stores. In the USA, the Germany edition appeared under the name International Fan Edition , this edition also made it into the US charts . In Great Britain, the UK edition was released on July 11, 2011 , on which there were also six additional bonus tracks, but not the same as on the Germany edition .

Commercial win

The album BTR was in a total of ten different countries in the charts and was number three in the US album charts . It has sold over 700,000 copies worldwide, including over 500,000 sales in the United States. For the many sales it received a gold record in the USA on March 31, 2011 , which was also the first music sales award for Big Time Rush . In Mexico , the album sold over 50,000 times and received the second gold record on September 30, 2011. In Germany, the album was sold over 40,000 times and landed at number sixteen in the German album charts .

reception

The album received various reviews. On the one hand, not much has been criticized and the album has been described as a "very impressive debut album". On the other hand, a lot has been criticized. Since Big Time Rush was taken from a series, FemaleFirst.co.uk said "Fans of the show will love the album, but it has little reference to the substance." "While the album is not breathtaking, they perform the melodies well," says FemaleFirst.co.uk about BTR . On iTunes , the album received an average of 4.5 stars out of 5 from users.

Singles

Before the album was released, only two of the seven singles released by then made it into the US charts, namely Halfway There and Big Night . After the release, the single Boyfriend was released , but it was not available on the US edition . The single made it into the charts of four different states. Finally the song Worldwide was released as a single in Germany and Austria and made it to number 81 in the German charts. So the album contained a total of four singles with an official single chart placement.
