In 1885 the Krauss locomotive factory delivered two triple-coupled tank locomotives to the Fehring – Fürstenfeld local railway and two for the WeizGleisdorf local railway .

The kkStB listed them as 96.01-04 in their inventory. Only 96.01 came to the BBÖ . Most recently she was used in Vienna in a light shunt.

The 96.01 came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , where it received the number 98.7001. It even survived World War II and was not scrapped until 1953 by Soviet orders.

In order to connect the silver mining town of Kuttenberg to the network of the ÖNWB , the Kuttenberg local railway was built. This also took care of the goods traffic to the local sugar factory. Two small, triple-coupled locomotives were ordered from Krauss in Munich to handle the traffic . They were delivered in 1885 and named 1087K and 1088K according to their serial numbers .

The ÖNWB led the operation on the local railway. When the operating contract ended in 1905, the locomotives came to the Polna-Stecken – Polna Stadt local railway .

The kkStB classified the two machines as 96.05-06 in their series scheme.

After the First World War , the two machines came to ČSD as the 300.5 series  . They were retired in 1925.

KkStB 96.07 (BNB)

The BNB bought this locomotive in 1897 from the Dolní Cetno sugar factory , where it was called "DOLNI CETNO". At the BNB, the machine built in 1881 formed the VII series  . When the kkStB took over the BNB in 1908, they classified the locomotive as 96.07 . It was identical to the 96.08-12.

The BCB had five of these six-coupled tank locomotives made by Krauss & Co. had been built, in their possession. They formed the IIIKb series  . One of them, the "RONOV", was bought by the Sager company ( Trenčín ) in 1885 ; the others were delivered by Krauss from 1881 to 1883.

When the BCB was nationalized in 1910 (operated by kkStB from 1909), the locomotives were classified in the  96 class.

After the First World War , the machines came to ČSD, but they were eliminated without giving them their own series number.
