Bad for Good is the debut album and so far the only album from composer and singer Jim Steinman . It was released in 1981. The album, composed entirely by Jim Steinman, was mostly sung by him. Some tracks have been interpreted by Rory Dodd. The album was the follow-up to the successful Steinman / Meat Loaf collaboration Bat Out of Hell , but Meat Loaf's vocal problems due to an exhausting tour prompted Steinman to release the album as a solo project.

On the original vinyl release, The Storm and Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through were only included as bonus tracks in the form of a single included with the album. According to Steinman's concept, these songs are the intro and the outro of the album. On the CD release, The Storm and Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through are the two closing songs, which contradicts Steinman's intended order.
