geography

Baden is on the north bank of the Ohio River , which at this point runs more in a south-north direction. Baden's neighboring communities are Economy in the north and west and Harmony Township in the south. On the opposite side of the river are Aliquippa and Hopewell Township .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the size of the place is 6.4  km² , of which 5.9 km² is land and 0.5 km² is water. The proportion of water bodies is 8.03%.

history

Baden is near the historic village of Logstown , which was abandoned after the Seven Years War . White colonists began to colonize the place in the early 19th century. The village of Baden was founded in 1838/39; the name refers to the spa town of Baden-Baden . In 1858 the village became its own borough . Baden also benefited from its proximity to the Conway Yard freight yard .
