The Badischer Chorverband 1862 e. V. (BCV) is the umbrella organization of the choral societies in Baden and was established in Karlsruhe in 1862 in the presence of representatives from 42 Baden choral societies. Before it was renamed by the annual general meeting in Bruchsal in April 2009, it was called Badischer Sängerbund eV (BSB).

organization

With around 75,000 singers in around 1,500 clubs, the Baden Choir Association is the fourth largest national association of the German Choir Association . history

After the Second World War, the Singers Association split up into the independent parts south and north, corresponding to the two zones of occupation. Both parts were merged again to form the BSB in Rastatt in 1950.

The "Badische Sängersag" from 1891 is sung at the end of every general meeting:

“From the lake to the Maines beach, we are united by the powerful tones. Band: High German song! Hoch Badnerland! "

In 2000, the Badischer Sängerbund hit the headlines when it was forced to accept three homosexual choirs due to a ruling by the Karlsruhe Regional Court .

12 years later, the Badischer Chorverband celebrated its 150th anniversary. The BCV is a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Music Association.
