The Boxtel Station is a separation station in the town of Boxtel in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant . It is located on the Breda – Eindhoven and Utrecht – Boxtel railway lines and, until 1950, on the Boxteler Bahn .

history

On August 18, 1860, the construction of nine so-called “ Staatslijnen ” was passed by the Van Hall / Van Heemstra cabinet , including the Breda – Eindhoven line. In 1863, construction began on the station building based on a design by the architect Karel Hendrik van Brederode . The building was completed with the opening of the railway line and the Boxtel train station on May 1, 1865. On January 1, 1868, the route to Vught was opened , which has led to Utrecht since 1870 . The first station building was replaced in 1872 by a new building designed as an island station . The Boxteler Bahn went into operation six years later, which also connected Boxtel to the German rail network.

The glass pedestrian bridge (2018)

As part of the Boxtel-Eindhoven project, the main part of which was the expansion from two to four tracks, the station in Boxtel was also renewed. After the old station building was demolished, the architect Wienke Scheltens from studioSK , the design department of the Movares engineering office , designed the new site. In addition to a new building on the east side, two central platforms and a glass pedestrian bridge were built over the track system. The new station area was inaugurated in 2000 by the then Commissioner of the Queen of the Province of Noord-Brabant, Frank Houben.
