Railway stations in Saxony-Anhalt |
The train station Burg (b Magdeburg) is the train station of the town of Burg in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt . In 1846 it was put into operation on the Berlin – Magdeburg railway line . From 1896 to 1965, the small railways of the Jerichow I district had another station in Burg with the reloading station. Various facilities are now under monument protection .
location
Burg train station is located in the northwest of the city, more than a kilometer from the city center. It borders on Bahnhofstrasse and is crossed by Landstrasse 52. The next station to the south-west is Möser train station , eight kilometers away, and to the north-east it is Güsen train station , which is about twelve kilometers away.
The transfer station of the Jerichower Kleinbahnen, in operation from 1896 to 1965, was located on Kanalstrasse . Its distance to the main line station was about 500 meters.
history
On August 7, 1846, the railway line between Berlin and Burg went into operation. First, a station building and a railway house was built. There were five tracks and a central platform . The train operation was controlled by two signal boxes. They were called “Bot” and “Bwt”, were located at the station entrances and existed until 1993. A goods shed and a ramp with two loading lanes were built for goods traffic.
In the 1890s, the construction of a connection to the Jerichower Kleinbahnen began. The starting point in Burg was the so-called reloading station with a track width of 750 millimeters. Its facilities included a station building, two platforms, engine sheds, wagon sheds and coal bans. Traffic to Magdeburgerforth train station and to Stegelitz began on April 4, 1896. From December 12 of the same year, there was also a siding to the Ihle Canal . In 1920 another connecting line to the so-called Rolandmühle was added. There were other connections on the west side. Before the First World War , the station building was expanded. An express goods shed and an underpass to the platform were also built.
In 1945 the Deutsche Reichsbahn took over the operation of the small railway. By 1956 she had a crane built for handling bulk goods. In 1947 the second line to Berlin was dismantled as a reparation payment . On September 25, 1965, passenger traffic on the Kleinbahn route ended. It was then shut down.
In the 1960s, the track superstructure on the main line was renewed and the second track after Berlin was rebuilt. The names of the signal boxes changed. “Bo” was now called “W1”, “Bg” became “B2” and “Bw” was now called “W3”. Another renewal of the very busy route was carried out in 1988/89.
As part of the German Unity No. 5 traffic project, the Magdeburg – Berlin line was modernized from 1991 onwards. Thanks to the punctual train control, a passage speed of 140 km / h was now possible. Two years later it came to electrification and a further increase in speed to 160 km / h. Middle and house platforms were newly built. Since then, there has been a control area computer at the site of the decommissioned goods handling, which is connected to an electronic interlocking that replaces all three previous mechanical interlockings.
On May 28, 1999, the Burger Bahnhofsvorplatz was voted the most beautiful in Saxony-Anhalt.
In addition to the reception building, a crane system and a water tower are also listed.
