history
Eschhofen station was opened on January 10, 1863 with the inauguration of the Lahn valley line. The first section of the Main-Lahn Railway between Eschhofen and Niederselters was opened to traffic on February 1, 1875, and the entire line was opened on October 15, 1877. The signal box was built around 1906 . In 1993, the city of Limburg acquired the station from Deutsche Bahn and then rented apartments and individual rooms in the station building . A meeting point for young people has also been set up.
In 2013, a buyer was found for the building, which had been in limited use for a long time, and the renovation began. It was completed in early 2014. Commercial units were created on the ground floor and two small residential units on the upper floor. In addition, a hairdressing salon and offices were set up in the old goods shed in the extension of the former signal box .
Infrastructure
The station is purely a regional station . He owns three platform tracks. Track 1 (the house platform ) is used for trains in the direction of Limburg (Lahn) . Track 2 is next to track 3 on a central platform and serves all trains in the direction of Gießen or Niedernhausen / Wiesbaden / Frankfurt . Track 3 only serves as a sideline and is not used regularly. Next to track 3 there are two tracks without platforms , which are no longer used today. There is also a park-and-ride and a bike-and-ride facility at Eschhofen train station .
Connection
Trains to Limburg (Lahn) or Gießen / Wiesbaden / Frankfurt stop at Eschhofen station. The RE 25 (Lahntal Express) passes through the station without stopping. The lines RB 21 and RB 45 are operated by HLB ; the RE 20 line from DB Regio . On the Main-Lahn-Bahn the trains run - to Niedernhausen - during the working day rush hour about every quarter of an hour, with a regional express ( RE 20 ) and a regional train ( RB 22 ) to Frankfurt and the RB 21 to Wiesbaden in the timetable stand. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the RB 22 line to Frankfurt and the RB 21 line to Wiesbaden run every two hours , resulting in an hourly service between Limburg (Lahn) and Niedernhausen. There is also a connection to the Rhein-Main S-Bahn .
