The Fulpmes station is the terminus of the Stubaitalbahn and is located north of the center of Fulpmes .
history
The station was built in 1903/04 as part of the construction of the Stubai Valley Railway. From the beginning it had three tracks, numbered 1 to 3, and, as is customary on the Stubaitalbahn, the leftmost track in the direction of Fulpmes has the lowest number. When it opened, the station had a shed stand on track 2, in which there was space for a railcar, a parallel switch that could be used to switch from track 1 to track 2, as well as the reception building with an attached restaurant , which is still almost unchanged today .
The parallel switch was expanded in the 1950s, as the course for the turnout were needed Hölltal. Since then it has been relocated in Fulpmes by gravity displacement, as there is no turning loop . The railcar pushes the sidecars into the incline of the station entrance, giving way to a station track, and the sidecars are rolled onto another track. The railcar then recouples the sidecar on the other side.
With the conversion to direct current operation, the original shed in Fulpmes was demolished and replaced by a new two-tier wagon hall on tracks 2 and 3, which can accommodate up to 27 meters long railcars. During the renovation, track 1, which initially led to the end of the remise, was shortened.
In 2014, a new substation was built next to the remise, so that the power supply from Fulpmes no longer has to be via Telfes, but the line can also be fed from Fulpmes train station.
Reception building
The listed reception building was built in 1903/04 according to the same scheme as the other Stubaitalbahn stations, but larger as the terminus. The main wing contains a dispatcher, waiting room and ticket office on the ground floor and a service apartment on the upper floor. The platform facade is designed symmetrically with a central risalit , decoratively processed wooden consoles support the far projecting hipped roof . To the south of the main wing there is an open waiting area and a workshop that has now been adapted as a kiosk.
Transport links
The train station is on Landesstraße 56, which in Fulpmes is called Riehlstraße. The station is the end of the Stubai Valley Railway , which runs every hour via Telfes , Mutters and Natters to Innsbruck Central Station . In addition, the bus line 590 stops every hour in front of the train station and connects Telfes, the town center and Neustift (in winter also the Stubai Glacier ). The Schlick 2000 ski bus line 5 also stops in front of the train station . The Nightliner 590N connects the train station with all communities in the Stubai Valley and Innsbruck on the nights from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday.
