history
The station was built from 1996 to 1997 according to a design by Hansjörg Göritz on the newly built S-Bahn line Hannover Hbf – Hannover-Leinhausen as a project for the Expo 2000 and put into operation on June 1, 1997 for regional traffic between Hannover and Wunstorf . The building was executed in blue-colored exposed concrete and blue glass blocks as an elongated staircase and elevator. The stones were delivered and installed by the company HoffmannGlas Glasbau und Bauelemente from Peine- Vöhrum . On the bridge between Engelbosteler Damm and Schulenburger Landstrasse there is a stop for the Hannover Stadtbahn .
The station replaced the Hanover-Hainholz station about 100 m northwest on the routes to Langenhagen and Wunstorf. This station was closed on May 24, 1998. The entrance is walled up, the platform roof removed.

accident
On July 16, 2012, two workers were electrocuted while cleaning glass at the train station. An aluminum ladder had tipped against the overhead line. In the course of the investigation, it turned out that the use of the ladder would not have been permitted, but that Deutsche Bahn employees did not object to this.
