The Harsefeld station is a two-way station on the railway line Bremerhaven-Buxtehude and since 1992 by the railways and transport companies Elbe-Weser operated GmbH. The station is on the street Am Bundesbahnhof in the heart of the Harsefeld area .

history

In 1902 the Stade – Bremervörde railway was extended from Bremervörde to Buchholz. A train station was built in Harsefeld.

In 1913 the Buxtehude-Harsefelder Eisenbahn (BHE) was founded. It opened the Buxtehude – Harsefeld line after long delays due to the First World War at the end of 1928. The Harsefeld Süd station with its own reception building was laid out south of the existing station . The route led from Buxtehude on the Niederelbebahn to Flecken Harsefeld on the Bremervörde – Buchholz branch line. It was planned to continue building to Zeven, hence the southern location of the station, which made a flyover east of the station necessary.

The passenger traffic of the DB between Hesedorf and Buchholz was stopped in 1968, the passenger traffic of the BHE in 1969. Afterwards only goods traffic took place on both routes. The station was then dismantled with the exception of the main track, a siding and the connecting track to the BHE, and the building was sold to private customers. Freight traffic to Hollenstedt was stopped in 2002.

In 1992 the Bremervörde – Buchholz line, which had only run as far as Hollenstedt since 1969, was taken over by the railways and transport companies Elbe-Weser GmbH (evb). The Buxtehude-Harsefelder Eisenbahn was incorporated into this company on January 1, 1993. The evb wanted to supplement the Bremervörde – Buchholz line with this line. On September 26, 1993, passenger traffic on the Bremerhaven – Neugraben line was opened, and the former DB Harsefeld station had been acquired and renovated. In 2004 the line from Buxtehude was routed directly into the station via a new connection before the overpass structure, the bridge was abandoned.

Since the S-Bahn from Pinneberg to Stade opened in 2007, passenger trains have only run to Buxtehude.

Station complex

The Harsefeld train station bus stop is on Friedrich-Huth-Straße . There is also a parking lot for around twelve vehicles and a taxi rank. In the next building is the evb travel agency and a room with a ticket machine of the Hamburg transport association . After the passage to the platform there is a second building with a cafe and the public toilet.

Next to the cafe there is a covered bicycle parking space with 75 bicycle racks and bicycle boxes as well as another parking lot with around 80 spaces.

platform

Track 1 is on a side platform. Track 2 is reached via a crossing at the same level. Both tracks are separated by a metal fence.

VT 715 of the BHE

The former station building was used as a residential building after the cessation of passenger traffic. After 2004 it was demolished and a hardware store was built there. Most of the former track field is built over with a supermarket. In the eastern area there are still tracks that are connected to the line to the east of the station. This is where the BHE's double-track locomotive shed is located, which is used by the Buxtehude-Harsefeld railway enthusiasts. There the VT 715 is subordinate to the BHE. There are also some rail connections.

In 1980 there was still a platform track and a bypass track, as well as a long loading track with a beet loading system south of the station. The railroad tracks could only be reached by sawing . Originally there were two track connections, but they were cut. For the resumption of passenger traffic, a new track connection was created east of the station, which allows direct access to the former federal station.
