Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The station Koenigswinter is a station on the East Rhine Railway in Koenigswinter , a town in Westphalia North- Rhine-Sieg district . It stands as a monument under monument protection . The station was opened on July 11, 1870 as part of the extension of the railway line on the right bank of the Rhine from Neuwied to Oberkassel . The lines RE 8 and RB 27 (Mönchengladbach - Cologne - Cologne / Bonn Airport (only RB 27) - Troisdorf - Bonn-Beuel - Linz (Rhine) - Neuwied - Koblenz) go to the station. Both lines run every hour and are operated by DB Regio NRW .
The station is managed by DB Station & Service AG in category 4 as a local transport system stop .
Reception building
Built in the core 1869/70 reception building is a zweieinhalbgeschossiger stucco building in late classicist forms. It has a three-axis central projection including a gable with oculus . The station is characterized in particular by an iron and glass construction as a covered access to the central platform . In the 1950s, the station building was supplemented by a glazed porch and extensions on both sides, which were designed as a station restaurant and for the purposes of freight transport . At the same time, the interior was also redesigned.
The reception building belonged to the city from 2004 and was sold by the city to a real estate company at the end of 2012 . From October 2013 to April 2014 the station forecourt was redesigned with funds from the Regionale 2010 . A renovation of the building was planned for 2015; the listed building should be completely gutted. This plan was not implemented. From October 2018, the building was refurbished so that the ground floor could be used as a pastry shop with a café , which opened in June 2019.
The platform underpass connects the old town of Königswinter in the west with the premises of the Maxion Wheels company (formerly Hayes Lemmerz ) in the east.
The entry building and the platform access in the monuments list of the city of Königswinter took place on February 25, 2002.
