Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The Rhöndorf station is a station on the right Rhine route in Rhöndorf , a district of the city of Bad Honnef in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district . It was opened on July 11, 1870 as part of the extension of the railway line on the right bank of the Rhine from Neuwied to Oberkassel .
Location and facilities
The station is on the western edge of Rhöndorf just below the eastbound federal highway 42 , which is demarcated by an embankment and concrete wall, near the banks of the Rhine . It includes two platforms and managed by the DB Station & Service AG in the Category 5 out. The platform access is located at Karl-Broel-street between the railway bridge and the transfer of the federal highway 42. West below the railway station initiates Park-and-Ride - Parking for light rail -Haltestelle Rhöndorf the seven mountain railway over which a rapid transition possible.
Reception building

The original station and reception building was made of brick and half-timbered houses . In the course of the new construction of Bundesstraße 42 in the 1950s and the associated redesign of the area around the station, it was demolished and rebuilt in 1962 in a modified and significantly reduced form.
Todays situation
Around 2000, 500 passengers frequented the station every day. In 2005, the area around the platform access was renovated with the construction of the bridge over Karl-Broel-Straße (built in 1906). More recently, the station has lost its operational importance: in 2008 the ticket office was closed, in 2010 a temporary platform crossing that could be used by the handicapped was removed and at the end of 2011 the local dispatcher was also withdrawn when switching to an electronic interlocking . As a consequence of this development, Deutsche Bahn AG closed the previous waiting hall with steel plates in spring 2012 . A demolition of the station building is being considered; meanwhile (as of 2016) it has been sold. The city of Bad Honnef is currently striving to make the train station more accessible by making a plot of land next to the Rhine-side railroad track available to the railway. Initially, however, it was not included in any federal construction or funding program and was therefore only expected in the medium term through funding from the Rhineland Local Transport Association (NVR). In March 2017, the station was finally included in the "Modernization Offensive 3" of the railway by a resolution of the NVR; expansion plans should begin in the same year.
service
Rhöndorf station is served by the RE8 and RB27 lines for local rail passenger transport. There is also a change to line 66 of the Bonn Stadtbahn .
Soundproofing
In spring 2012, a new type of noise barrier was installed on the west side of the station over a length of 270 meters , which is being tested here for the first time worldwide. It is comparatively low, consists of aluminum and steel elements and can be folded up hydraulically .
