The Bonn-Beuel train station is a train station on the right Rhine route in the Beuel district of Bonn . It is classified in station category 4 by Deutsche Bahn AG .
Investments
It was opened on March 1, 1871 and has three platform tracks and several side tracks. A goods shed also belongs to the station . He stands including its supply and charging road as well as the reception building , the two platforms and platform roofing as a monument under monument protection .
The station has some special features compared to neighboring stations. The extensive track systems for local freight traffic (as it usually took place at German train stations until the 1980s ) have not been removed in Beuel, but have been almost completely preserved and ready for use. For example, the goods shed can still be approached via its access track, a very rare operational situation for this station category in Germany. Another unusual feature is the fact that the other loading tracks (including head and side ramps ) are still ready for use and can be reached by road and rail. Private railway companies and DB itself regularly use this infrastructure, which is now unique in the region; so z. B. the arrival of the Circus Roncalli during its guest performances via the Beuel train station. In Beuel station z. B. Loading container goods, wood and rail ballast.
While the manned interlockings on the right-hand Rhine route north and south of Beuel were shut down in 2011 due to conversion to electronic interlockings , the station interlocking in Beuel remained operational and is still permanently manned by a dispatcher . This relatively modern signal box south of the reception building replaced the two previous signal boxes in 1985 (one at the level of goods handling and a dispatcher signal box at the level of the bridge "on the Grendt").
RSE
East of the train station is the terminus of the Bonn-Beuel-Großenbusch railway line, which only leads to Hangelar and is used by the Rhein-Sieg Railway, among other things, for special traffic during the Pützchen market . There is a track connection in the south of the station.
Planning: S13 connection
After more than twenty years of planning and discussion, the preparatory work began in autumn 2016 to extend the S-Bahn line 13 from Cologne from Troisdorf to Bonn-Oberkassel. All work is scheduled to be completed in 2027. As part of this measure, the Beuel station is to receive two additional S-Bahn tracks, and the previous tracks for freight traffic are to be dismantled. Bonn will thus lose the last interface in freight traffic between rail and road. Local rail freight transport as it existed until 2017 should no longer be possible. Half of the freight yard building is being demolished, the rest is to be moved 1.8 meters to the east. Any remaining part of the goods shed will not get a new operating track, so it will lose its technical and historical function. This was also popular as a backdrop for filming a film. In January 2018 after the tenant moved out, the first work on moving the building began.

Long-distance transport
If long-distance passenger trains are diverted from the left Rhine route to the right, Bonn-Beuel station is a substitute stop for Bonn Hauptbahnhof . This substitute stop function of the Bonn-Beuel train station is often used because of the relatively high susceptibility to failure of the left-hand Rhine stretch (rockfalls, few overtaking and evasive options, high traffic load, etc.), even over several days. Even if the high-speed line Cologne – Rhine / Main is blocked , the right-hand Rhine line can be used as a diversion and the Bonn-Beuel station is a replacement for the Siegburg / Bonn station .
Regional traffic
Tram and bus
In front of the train station is the Beuel Bahnhof stop of tram line 62 , which leads through Beuel to Bonn city center and via the main station to Dottendorf and in the opposite direction via Ramersdorf to Oberkassel .
