The Niederdollendorf station is a station on the East Rhine Railway in Niederdollendorf , a district of the city Koenigswinter in North Rhine-Westphalia Rhein-Sieg-Kreis . It stands as a monument under monument protection .

The station is managed by DB Station & Service AG in category 5 .

location

The station with its reception building is on Proffenweg (house number 4), a section of the former Bachstrasse, on the north side of Heisterbacher Strasse ( Kreisstrasse 4). The Oberdollendorf tram station of the Siebengebirgsbahn is, like the Niederdollendorf train station, about 200 m further east on Heisterbacher Strasse and thus enables a quick change .

history

The station was opened on July 11, 1870 as part of the extension of the railway line on the right bank of the Rhine from Neuwied to Oberkassel . The station building was built in 1898, an operations building for goods handling around 1910. The Heisterbacher Talbahn , which was gradually shut down between 1940 and 1950 and used for goods transport, ended at Niederdollendorf station . In 1978, a pedestrian underpass was built under the railway line on the south side of the station on Heisterbacher Strasse. In the spring of 2016, the bus stop at the train station was made barrier-free.

The entry building, the platform roof girders and the railway operations building with loading ramp were entered in the monuments list of the city of Königswinter on February 25, 2002.

architecture

The station building , a two-story brick building built in the core in 1898, is adjoined by single -story outbuildings to the south and north. The station restaurant was located in the southern annex (until 2017), the northern counterpart, which was built later, was created as an office building. The upper floor is designed as a service apartment . The station has a gabled central projection , the windows and the portal are in the form of a segmental arch . The facades are adorned with cornices showing terracotta friezes . The platform roof has cast iron pillars.

The operations building for goods handling from around 1910 belonging to the station is located around 50 m north of the reception building and is also a brick building. The hipped roof of the building is provided with dormers . The part of the building referred to as the “ Drempel ” is presented in half-timbered construction .
