The station Lorsch is the station of the South Hessian municipality Lorsch . It is located on the single-track, non-electrified railway line Worms – Bensheim ( Nibelungenbahn ) and is classified in station category 6. The address of the train station is Lindenstraße 1 .

history

Reception building (street side)

In 1869 the Hessische Ludwigsbahn (HLB) opened the Nibelungenbahn , the connection between the Rosengarten station on the eastern side of the Rhine , across from Worms , via Lorsch and Bürstadt to Bensheim , where there was a connection to the Main-Neckar Railway , which was completed in 1846 . It was not until September 9, 1906 that train protection was carried out here with stationary railway signals.

In 2006 it was planned to connect the station to the electronic signal box in Weinheim , but this was not implemented. The mechanical interlocking of the type " Jüdel " from 1923 is still in operation.

In the first half of 2016, the platforms at Lorsch train station were raised to 55 cm to enable barrier-free access to the class 622 and 623 diesel multiple units that have been in service here since December 2015 . For this purpose, the wires of the mechanical interlocking were relocated and fitted with new tensioning mechanisms .

The parking and loading tracks for goods traffic in the western part of the station have been removed and the site has been built over.

The reception building of the station Lorsch is a cultural monument because of the Hessian Monument Protection Act under monument protection .
