Monaco - Monte Carlo train station

The Monaco - Monte Carlo train station is now the only train station in the Principality of Monaco . The station is on the Marseille – Nice – Ventimiglia line . Since the state does not have its own railway company, the station is served exclusively by the French SNCF .

The station was first put into operation in 1867. In 1999 the station was rebuilt and renovated. In the course of this work, the entire railway system in Monaco was relocated underground so that space could be created for further quarters in the densely populated city-state.

The length of the railway line on Monegasque national territory is 1.7 kilometers. Since the abolition of intercity Nice - Milan (- Basel ) the station long-distance transport of a daily is TGV - train pair between Paris and Ventimiglia , the three daily Thello -Zugpaaren ( Marseille St. Charles -) Nice- Milano Centrale and weekly Night train connection Nice - Moscow , otherwise the rail traffic is handled exclusively in the regional traffic of TER PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur), which operates trains from Grasse or Cannes- La Bocca to Ventimiglia.
