The Regensburg-Prüfening station is next to Regensburg Main Station and the breakpoint Regensburg Burgweinting one used by three passenger stations of the city of Regensburg in the district Grosspruefening-Dechbetten-Königswiesen .
history
When the stock corporation of the Bavarian Eastern Railways planned the construction of a railway line from Nuremberg to Regensburg in 1869, this new line should also lead past Großprüfening. The construction of a railway station was not initially planned there. The mayor of Großprüfening at the time, Michael Hoferer , was able to convince the client of the importance of the place as a summer retreat and excursion and hiking destination, so that Prüfing got its own train station. The line was officially opened in 1872/1873.
Location and structure
The train station is located in the west of the city on Prüfinger Schloßstraße. In front of the train station, the railway line is divided into the Regensburg – Nuremberg line and the Regensburg – Ingolstadt line . This crosses under the line to Nuremberg shortly after the Prüfingen train station.
In terms of rail operations, the facility , which is colloquially known as the station, is divided into the station section (Bft) Regensburg -prüfunging (NRH) (direction Nuremberg; abbreviation NRPF ) and the stop (Hp) Regensburg -prüfunging (direction Ingolstadt; abbreviation NRPH ).
The Regensburg -prüfunging station has three platforms. In the south there are platforms 1 and 2 towards Nuremberg and about 100 meters north of platform 3 towards Ingolstadt. Only regional trains stop as scheduled at the station; it is divided into category 4 of the DB . There is a connection to the Regensburg city bus network through the Rennplatz stop immediately to the north .
As part of the expansion of the local public transport system , the level crossing for platform 3 secured with circulation barriers will be replaced by an underpass. Equipped with ramps, access is made easier for people with reduced mobility. The construction project should be completed by the end of 2020.
