The Zell (Wiesental) Train station is the only station of the South Baden town of Zell im Wiesental and end point of Badischer Bahnhof Basel to Zell leading Wiesentalbahn . Since the summer of 2003, the Zell station has been a pure S-Bahn station and operationally only one stopping point .
history
After the Basel - Schopfheim line of the "Wiesentalbahn-Gesellschaft" was opened as a private railway from the Badischer Bahnhof in Basel in 1862, this line was continued on June 5, 1876 by the " Schopfheim-Zeller Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft " to Zell. This is again 13 years joined around later that of the July 7, 1889, Baden Railway Consortium H. brook stone built, later the South German railway company belonging Schmalspurbahn cell Todtnau to what was called "Upper Wiesentalbahn" and Popularly known as Todtnauerli .
On September 25, 1966 the passenger traffic and on September 24, 1967 the goods traffic on the 19 km long narrow-gauge railway from Zell (Wiesental) to Todtnau was stopped. A short time later, the tracks were completely dismantled.
The Basel – Zell line, and with it the Zell train station, had been electrified since 1913. After the introduction of push-pull trains, whose locomotives no longer had to move, in 1979 the overhead line in the station was dismantled down to the platform track, and freight traffic was handled with diesel locomotives.
On June 15, 2003, the traffic on the Basel – Zell line was taken over by SBB GmbH , the German passenger transport subsidiary of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), and integrated into the network of today's trinational Basel S-Bahn . At the same time, the Zell train station was downgraded from the train station to a stopping point. Only the S5 and S6 S-Bahn lines still operate.
Infrastructure
The reception building of the Zell train station is now privately owned and no longer plays a role in rail operations.
Since the integration of the Wiesentalbahn into the trinational Basel S-Bahn, the Zell (Wiesental) train station has only one single track with a platform right next to the station building. The track ends at a buffer stop at the end of the platform . Parking spaces were created in the area of the former loading and staging tracks. There are two bus stops directly in front of the platform and next to the reception building, from where buses run to the surrounding communities, including along the former railway line to Todtnau .

Zell im Wiesental belongs to the Regio Verkehrsverbund Lörrach (RVL). In the direction of Basel, transitional tariffs for the Northwestern Switzerland Tariff Association (TNW) are recognized.
The city and the Wiesentalbahn are the end of line S6 of the Basel S-Bahn from Basel SBB . As a rule, every 30 minutes is offered on the S6. On Sundays and public holidays, the S6 only runs every hour, but the S5 , which otherwise ends in stones, is also linked every hour to Zell. On the route Zell (Wiesental) - Lörrach-Stetten there is a half-hourly service on Sundays and public holidays.
In addition, a number of local and regional buses run from Zell (Wiesental) train station .
