The Kerzers-Kallnach Railway Museum was a privately run railway museum in Switzerland with exhibits such as locomotives , rail cars and railway technology. The museum was operated by the Wymann family. The museum site was on the one hand on Aegertenstrasse in Kerzers ( Canton of Friborg ) and on the other hand on Fabrikstrasse in Kallnach ( Canton of Bern ) on the site of a foundry. In 2014 the facility was closed.

history

In 1999, Rolf Wymann and his son Roger began collecting historic rail vehicles, including above all unique items and representatives of small series. In 2002 it was decided to make the objects accessible to the public. A collection of around one hundred vehicles from different companies and gauges was created . At the end of 2007, the operating family was faced with the situation that the industrial track at Kerzers train station, on which a large part of the exhibits originally stood, was no longer available. An alternative location in Payerne could not be realized. It was not until the summer of 2008 that the family found a partner in the foundry in Kallnach who provided a sufficiently large area with a siding . By September 2008, all vehicles had moved from Kerzers train station to Kallnach.

Since the foundry will need the site itself in the future, it was announced in 2014 that the museum would have to be closed by the end of 2017. The rolling stock was given on permanent loan to museums in Germany and the Czech Republic . As of January 2018, remnants of the collection were still in Kallnach, including the BLS ABDe 4/8 , formerly Oensingen-Balsthal-Bahn .

Among the exhibits is the oldest were tank cars Switzerland, Teak - Dining car WR 402 and 403 of the Oensingen-Balsthal-Bahn ( Orient Express , ex CIWL / SBB , model years 1906/1907) and a Rowanzug the Jungfrau Railway . The museum holdings were only managed and viewed in groups of at least ten people.
