The Małdyty – Malbork ( German Maldeuten – Marienburg ) railway connected the Małdyty and Malbork stations in northern Poland . The route was built by the Prussian State Railways between Maldeuten in East Prussia and Marienburg in West Prussia .
history
The railway line between Maldeuten and Marienburg was opened on September 1, 1893. The line between Maldeuten and Miswalde was expanded to double tracks in 1917. The second track was removed after the Second World War . Other sources say that although the subgrade for the second track was prepared, it was never laid.
According to this source, the entire line is said to have been completely dismantled by June 1945 and the material obtained was brought to the Soviet Union. In 1948 the section from Malbork (Marienburg) to the Dzierzgoń Most ("Christburg Bridge") station, which was only opened for this purpose, was put back into operation, and in the same year the section from Małdyty (Maldeuten) to Myślice (Miswalde), the gap was closed in 1949 after the restoration of the bridge at Dzierzgoń (Christburg) over the Dzierzgoń (Sorge), the Dzierzgoń Most station was decommissioned.
In the 1990s, the maximum speed in the Małdyty – Myślice section was 70 km / h, while the Myślice – Malbork section was only allowed to travel at 30 km / h.
Due to the poor technical condition, passenger traffic was discontinued on October 1, 1999 and freight traffic in 2000. On April 26, 2004 the decision was made to shut down the line. In 2006, the Dzierzgoń – Malbork section and in 2008 the Małdyty – Dzierzgoń section was dismantled.
