history

Gardeja station (2011)

On November 1, 1882 - in Thorn with a different route, the current one has existed since 1906 - the section from Thorn to Graudenz was opened as a Prussian state railway, followed on August 15, 1883 by the continuation to Marienburg . With the cession of the Polish Corridor to the re-established Poland as a result of the Versailles Treaty , the line at Garnsee was divided: the section from Thorn via the Garnsee train station to the border at Garnsee - which remained with Germany - was now on Polish land and belonged to the Polish State railways , the section from the border to Marienburg remained with Germany. In 1927, a new Garnsee train station was put into operation on German territory, and in 1936 four pairs of trains ran across the border every day. After the German occupation of Poland in 1939, the line was operated in its entirety by the Deutsche Reichsbahn ; since 1945 it has been Polish again.
