Railway line Paris – Marseille to Paris Gare de Lyon

The Montargis – Sens railway line is a single-track , non-electrified railway line in France. It belongs to the main road Chalons-en-Champagne - Orléans , of which it is the centerpiece. The same consortium was awarded the concession for all three sections in 1864 and opened on October 6, 1874. On May 25, 1878, the State Railway Administration Chemins de fer de l'État, along with many other lines, took over the operation of this private company after bankruptcy could no longer be averted.

Privatized old station of Château-Renard. In front the platform edge.

In 1883/84 all three interconnected lines went to three different successor companies: The easternmost, the Coolus – Sens railway line went to the Chemin de fer de l'Est on June 11, 1883 , which became its most south-westerly branch. May 1878 to the Compagnie des chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM) and the western continuation, the Orléans – Montargis railway three days later to the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans (PO).

In 1880 the line was given a second track. In 1929 the average speed was 38 km / h; Every five pairs of trains used daily needed 1:39 h for the 62 km. Accordingly unattractive for travelers and unprofitable for society, it was closed one month after the outbreak of war in 1939. Further sections were gradually abandoned; most recently on October 9, 1998, the twelve kilometer section Triguères – Courtenay was deedicated. Freight traffic takes place on the sections that are still released.
