The Siversk – Lichaya line is a branch line in eastern Ukraine . It runs from Siversk in eastern Ukraine via Rodakowe , Lutuhyne , Simejkyne and Iswaryne to Lichowskoi in southern Russia. The line is single-track wide-gauge (1,520 mm), the operation of the line is guaranteed on the Ukrainian side by the Ukrainian railways , the section up to the Ukrainian border is looked after by the Donetska Salisnyzja . On the Russian side, operations are maintained by the Russian Railways , especially the Severo-Kawkasskaya zhelesnaja doroga .

history

The line was first opened between Siversk and Rodakowe (as part of the total line between Lyman and Rodakowe) in 1911 by the North Donetsk Railway. The line from Rodakowe to Lichaja was then opened during the First World War in 1916. In 1953 the North Donetsk Railway was absorbed by the Soviet Railways , after the end of the Soviet Union the Ukrainian part was transferred to the Ukrzalisnyzja, the Russian part was transferred to the Russian State Railways. The line between Iswaryne and Lichaja has been closed since the 1990s due to the border location and was largely dismantled between 2000 and 2002.

Rail traffic between Switlaniwka and Sentjaniwka has been interrupted since summer 2014 due to the war in Ukraine .
