history
Since time immemorial there has been a connection between the Waag lowlands (Slovak: Považie) and Moravia along the river Vlára . With the construction of the railway line from Brno via Veselí nad Moravou and Brumov-Bylnice to Slovakia, the importance of the Wlara Pass was underlined.
This section was opened with the entire Uherský Brod - Trenčianska Teplá line on October 28, 1888. At that time it was one of just three railway connections that connected Slovakia with Moravia alongside the Břeclav – Kúty and Žilina – Mosty u Jablunkova lines .
