The Bali Sea ( Indonesian According Bali ) is a 45,000 square kilometers of marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean , is located in the Malay Archipelago and is a tropical sea. It is up to 1590 m deep. The Bali Sea was named by the hydrograph and captain of the Siboga, Tydeman, during the Siboga expedition from 1899–1900.

The Bali Sea stretches between Bali and Sumbawa in the south, Madura in the west and the Kangean Islands in the north. The Java Sea joins in the northwest and the Floressee in the east . It is connected to the Indian Ocean via Bali Street and Lombok Street .

In oceanography, the Bali Sea is commonly considered to be part of the Flores Sea.

In April 2021, the KRI Nanggala , a submarine of the Indonesian armed forces , sank in the Bali Sea . It disappeared under previously unexplained circumstances on a routine mission with torpedo exercises about 51 nautical miles north of Bali.
