The Baltica is a German seaside resort ship operated by the shipping company BSTW Baltic Schiffahrt und Touristik in Warnemünde.

history

As Rüm Hart

The ship was built with the construction number 1136 at the Husum shipyard for the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum (WDR) in Wyk auf Föhr . It was laid down on January 10, 1959 . The launch took place in March, the completion in May 1959 and on May 13 of the same year the ship was delivered as Rüm Hart to the client.

In the years up to 1982 it was used by the WDR primarily on the route between Dagebüll, Wyk and Amrum and occasionally also used for excursions to Helgoland and Sylt. After more and more RoRo ships were used in regular service, the Rüm Hart's area of operation gradually shifted more and more to day trip traffic in the summer season, in particular from Dagebüll, Föhr and Amrum to Helgoland and also from Husum or Tönning to Helgoland.

In addition, the ship made several trips to Denmark and Sweden in the summer of 1961, at the turn of the year 1964/65 or in the summer of 1974. In 1971/72 the Rüm Hart chartered the Cassen Eils shipping company on the line from Büsum to the island of Helgoland and in the summer of 1976 she chartered Helgoland from Cuxhaven with HADAG . In 1981/82 the ship was used on the route from Hörnum (Sylt) to Helgoland.

As Baltica

In May 1982 the WDR sold the ship and replaced it in November 1982 with a ship of the same name, ten years younger . Since then the ship, renamed Baltica , has been sailing in the Baltic Sea. The first owner after the WDR was Rolf Böttcher from Neustadt, who used the Baltica from Neustadt. After Böttcher's bankruptcy on July 27, 1983, the Baltica was sold to the Flensburger Förde Schiffahrtsgesellschaft, which chartered the ship to Seetouristik Kappeln. This registered the ship in Kappeln and operated it on butter journeys between Flensburg, Kollund and Kappeln until 1985 . Between 1985 and 1999 the route changed to Flensburg, Gråsten and Kappeln. During this time, the ship moved to Ursula Lassen & Helga Petersen (Flensburger Förde Schiffahrtgesellschaft) in Kappeln in 1990, and then to Seetouristik Kappeln in 1995. In 1997 the Baltica was sold to Heinrich Böttcher from Lübeck, who used it to make butter trips from Travemünde. Since 1999 the ship has been in service for the BSTW Baltic Schiffahrt und Touristik from Warnemünde on Baltic Sea tours from Rostock and Warnemünde, the home port has been Lübeck since 2000.

technology

The ship is powered by two six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engines from the manufacturer MaK (model: MSU 361 A) with an output of 294  kW each. The two machines each act on a fixed propeller. The ship can thus reach a maximum speed of 12  knots .
