The Frisian XI is a tourist steamer of the shipping company north Frisia .

history

The ship was delivered in 1969 as Baltrum IV to the shipping company Baltrum-Linie , with the home port Baltrum . With the takeover by the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum (WDR) in November 1982, the name was changed to Rüm Hart II according to the North Frisian motto "Rüm hart - klaar kiming" (wide heart - clear horizon). In 1986 there were minor modifications to the ship. Among other things, two new chimneys were added aft, left and right. Until then, the ship had a centrally arranged chimney, as in the sister ship Baltrum III . In autumn 2002 it was chartered to Heinrich von Holdt and used on trips between Schlüttsiel , Hallig Hooge , Hallig Langeneß and Wyk auf Föhr . Almost two years later, in March 2004, it was renamed Seeadler , returned to WDR at the end of the season and renamed Rüm Hart .

In March 2014, WDR sold the ship to the Norden-Frisia shipping company, as it would no longer have been worth converting the ship for WDR in accordance with the national guidelines for passenger ships after the ship had last been in use for only two months in 2013. The shipping company Norden-Frisia had the ship converted and modernized at the Diedrich shipyard for use in the East Frisian Wadden Sea. The engine system was also replaced and a bow thruster installed. In addition, the external appearance of the ship was adapted to the younger of the two sister ships, the Frisia X , by changing the shape of the windows, the chimneys, the wheelhouse, the mast and the upper part of the bow .

Since the end of October 2015, the ship has been used as a ferry between Norddeich and Norderney or Juist, as well as for excursions by the shipping company.

Technical specifications

Until 2014, the ship was powered by two twelve-cylinder diesel engines made by Deutz with an output of 691  kW , which operated on two fixed propellers.

During the renovation of the ship in 2014/2015, the engines were replaced by two Scania DI13 71M diesel engines. The two Scania engines act on the propellers via reduction gears. Two diesel generators, which were also replaced during the renovation, and an emergency generator are available for power supply.
