The Frisia X is a passenger ferry operated by the Norden-Frisia shipping company for excursions between the North Sea islands of Norderney , Juist , Baltrum , Spiekeroog and Langeoog as well as for passenger transport between Norderney and Norddeich on the mainland.

Between 1972 and 1997 the Frisia X was used between Delfzijl , Greetsiel and Norddeich, and has served its current purpose since 1997.

Technical Equipment

The ship is powered by two six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engines from the manufacturer AB Volvo Penta (type TAMD 163 A) with an output of 379  kW each. The motors act on two fixed propellers via gears.

Two generators are available for the power supply, each with an apparent power of 84  kVA and 60 kVA.

Renovation 2012/2013

From November 2012 to February 2013 the Frisia X was completely gutted at the Diedrich shipyard in Oldersum and received a new floor plan with a different interior. The ship was equipped with a new fire protection system as well as new sanitary facilities and catering facilities. It also received new wiring. In addition, the exterior windows have been replaced by ones that meet the new EU requirements. The exterior was then painted with a new floor coating.
