Bamboo Airways is a Vietnamese low-cost airline based in Qui Nhơn and based at Phù Cát Airport .
history
The company was registered on May 31, 2017. Bamboo’s parent company is the FLC Group, a conglomerate of financial services, real estate, tourism, raw materials, media, education and recruiting. The company received its Air Operator Certificate in the summer of 2018 and was licensed by the National Civil Aviation Authority in November. After flight operations began in January with 4 aircraft, 9 aircraft were already available by the end of May 2019 and six months later, after the first Dreamliner went into operation, 18 aircraft were in service.
Destinations
From January 2019, Bamboo Airways began serving destinations in Vietnam such as Quảng Ninh , Hai Phong , Thanh Hóa , Đồng Hới , Qui Nhơn , Phú Quốc and Nha Trang as well as in neighboring countries with leased aircraft . With the addition of the A321 Neo, more flight destinations are to be added in the region. Boeing 787s are planned for flights to China , Japan and South Korea .
The first long-haul destination is expected to be the Czech capital Prague from April 26, 2020 . Munich Airport and Bamboo Airways have also signed a letter of intent to start non-stop connections to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from July 2020. The routes are served with a Dreamliner .

In March 2018 it was announced that Bamboo Airways intends to purchase up to 24 Airbus A321 Neo . The aircraft should be delivered between 2022 and 2025. If everything goes according to plan, 24 to 26 A321 LRs could even be added, it said.
The company had entered into an obligation to purchase 20 Boeing 787s , according to a press release from the manufacturer on June 25, 2018. In February 2019, an intention to operate 30 units was communicated.
