Bandio (Niger)

Bandio is a village in the rural community of Dargol in Niger .

The village, run by a traditional chief ( chef traditionnel ), is located about 15 kilometers west of Dargol, the capital of the rural community of the same name, which belongs to the Gothèye department in the Tillabéri region. Bandio is located on the Dargol River . The National Highway 4 runs through the city and connects it to the department capitals Gothèye and Téra . The mining settlement of Komabangou is located around 20 kilometers north of Bandio .

At the 2012 census, Bandio had 9,237 inhabitants who lived in 972 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 5,337 in 652 households, and at the 1988 census, the population was 5,274 in 551 households.

The village has an important weekly market to which a cattle market is attached. In Bandio, there is a Center de Santé Intégré (CSI), a health center that was responsible for the care of around 26,700 people in 2016. A total of 191 cholera patients were treated here in 2011 and 2012 , 40 of whom came from Bandio itself.
