life and work

Beisinghoff learned to etch early in Hanover and studied art education and painting. She worked as artist-in-residence in Belgium, Israel, Canada, the USA and China. Beisinghoff won "Kunst vor Ort" in 2005 and etched "Land Register Pages", copper reliefs that can be seen in the paving around the town hall in Dreieich . With the participation of 250 children, 5 land register pages were created. A land register page was created for each of the 5 city districts. What matters to the artist is the penetration of material. With watermarks and water jet drawings, she penetrates handmade papers and installs them against light. Or she couches scooped words on the bark of trees. Wörtersee is what she calls her filigree intervention around the Goetheteich in Darmstadt. As part of Forest Art China “Poetic Forest”, she perforated star maps as a copper roof against light “Canopy for Li-Bai” on the Lu Shan , Jiangxi Province , China, and in 2015 in Dunjiangyan near Chengdu in Sezuan, China. Traveling all over the world, at home in Rhoden, this is how artist Barbara Beisinghoff finds her way from thoughts to graphics. And for her part, she invites female artists as artists in residence to her Atelierhaus Beisinghoff.
