Barbara Colby

Barbara Colby (born July 2, 1939 in New York City , New York , † July 24, 1975 in Venice , Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress . In Germany, she was best known for her role as murder victim Lilly La Sanka in the third episode of the crime series Columbo (1971).

Life

After her first roles in the theater, she made her first well-known television appearance in 1971 in the Columbo episode Deadly Separation , directed by Steven Spielberg . This was followed by other appearances in well-known series such as Männerwirtschaft , FBI , Kung Fu or Smoking Colts . In addition, she continued to work at the theater, a. a. on broadway . From 1974 sporadic film work followed. From a participation in the Mary Tyler Moore show eventually developed a solid series lead role for Colby in the series spin-off Phyllis (1975), where she played alongside Cloris Leachman . After three episodes, however, Colby was murdered in Venice under circumstances that have not yet been clarified . Her role was continued by the actress Liz Torres , who later received multiple Emmy nominations .
