Barbara Cooper (* 8. October 1949 in Brighton as Barbara Diggens ) is a former English - Canadian squash player and current coach.
Career
Barbara Cooper began her career in the late 1970s. She achieved her greatest success with the British national team , with which she became world champion in 1979 . In 1983 she reached the final with the English team again, stayed in the game against Australia , which was lost 2-1, but without commitment. In addition, she won with the team from 1980 to 1983 four titles in a row at European championships . From 1979 until 1986 she was also the coach of the England national team. In 1988 she moved to Toronto and in 1994, at the age of 45, took part in the World Cup with the Canadian national team, which ended up twelfth.
Between 1979 and 1994 she took part in individual world championships five times. In 1981 she achieved her best result with the quarter-finals. In the world rankings she reached eighth, her highest ranking.
After her career as a player, she became a full-time coach in her adopted home Canada.
