Barbara Henniger

Barbara Henniger (born November 9, 1938 in Dresden ) is a German cartoonist and book author.

Life

Henniger grew up in Dresden- Striesen as the daughter of a plumber and a hairdresser and, after graduating from high school, studied architecture from 1956 to 1958 at the Technical University of Dresden . In 1959 she started a traineeship at the Sächsisches Tageblatt in Dresden. She worked as a journalist and cartoonist for this daily newspaper, published by the Saxony Regional Association of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany . It was there that she met her husband, whom she married in 1967.

Since her husband Heinfried Henniger got a job as a lecturer at the book publisher Der Morgen in the same year , they moved to Strausberg in 1967 . Henniger has since worked as a freelance caricaturist and from that time on also worked as one of the regular drawers at Eulenspiegel .

Henniger has a daughter.

  • 1985: "Golden Hat", 1st prize at the International Cartoon Contest in Knokke (Belgium)
  • 1991: "Goldener Gothaer", 1st place of the 1st "Gothaer Karikade" in Gotha
  • 1999: "Silberner Gothaer", 2nd place of the 9th "Gothaer Karikade"
  • 2001: German Caricature Award in Dresden, audience award
  • 2003: Caricature competition “What is social?” In Berlin, 1st prize
  • 2006: German Caricature Award, “Winged Pencil” in gold
  • 2012: German Caricature Award, Lifetime Achievement Award
  • 2017: eoplauen award
