Barbara Josepha Scheuermann

Barbara Josepha Scheuermann (born April 11, 1975 in Bonn ) is a German curator and author .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bonn-Bad Godesberg , Scheuermann completed a degree in art history , German philology and medieval and modern history at the University of Cologne , which she completed in 2001 with a master's degree. During her studies she did internships in various museums. a. in the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC , in the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn and in the Art Collection of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf. In 2005, she was in Cologne with Antje von Graevenitz on "narrative strategies in Contemporary Art" doctorate .

From 2005 to 2015 Scheuermann worked as a freelance writer for art magazines such as Kunstzeitung , Informationsdienst Kunst, Intro , Artnet , Art Pulse, Take on Art (India), Kunsthart (Belgium) and for the culture section of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger . In 2006/07 she worked as a scientific trainee in Düsseldorf at the K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen .

2007/08 she worked as a curator for contemporary art ( curator for contemporary art ) at the Tate Modern in London. From 2008 to 2011 she lived as a freelance curator in Berlin, where she a. a. led the Babusch project room . From 2012 to 2016 she was exhibition curator at the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen. Since 2016 the head of the graphic collection and exhibition curator at the Kunstmuseum Bonn .
