Barbaro
Barbaro is the name of an important family belonging to the patriciate of Venice . It is not to be confused with the named Venetian family Barbarigo .
history
The Barbaro family came to Istria from Rome, settled in Trieste and reached Venice in 868 . In 1121 Marco took part in a sea battle under Domenico Michiel .
The family palace was the Palazzo Barbaro Wolkoff . It stands on the Grand Canal near the Ponte dell'Accademia in the Sestiere of San Marco .
