Barbaros is a municipality in the Süleymanpaşa district in the Turkish province of Tekirdağ . It has 5,076 inhabitants (as of 2012) and is located on the Sea of ​​Marmara about three kilometers north of Kumbağ and seven kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Tekirdağ .

history

The history of the place Barbaros can be traced back to antiquity; possibly a Thracian foundation . The ancient name was Panias (Πανιάς) or Panis (Πανίς), in Byzantine times the city was called Panidos (Πάνιδος).
