Barbechat ( Breton : Bargazh ) is a town and commune Déléguée in the French community Divatte-sur-Loire with 1,397 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the communes of La Chapelle-Basse-Mer and Barbechat were merged to form a commune nouvelle called Divatte-sur-Loire.

Barbechat is located in the historic Goulaine countryside on the edge of the Gros Plant du Pays Nantais wine-growing region .

history

In 1868 the municipality was detached from the La Chapelle-Basse-Mer commune .
